Involvement with CAWSES-II

The following is a Statement of Task for Dr. V. Lynn Harvey in support of a contract with Climate and Weather of the Sun-Earth System (CAWSES-II) and the Scientific Committee on Solar-Terrestrial Physics (SCOSTEP). The point of contact is Dr. Susan Avery. This contract will fund Dr. Harvey for 1 month/year and include 1 international trip per year. Continuation of the project for 3-4 years is contingent upon satisfactory performance in Year 1. There is $15K available and negotiations have been made to charge the off-campus overhead rate.

1) Meet with Dr. Peter Fox to establish specific tasks required to create a virtual presence for CAWSES-II. 2) Coordinate an online newsletter. The newsletter will be published twice/year and highlight progress of the individual working groups and presentations at workshops in the previous 6 months. It will include links to publications and presentations and advertise upcoming workshops and meetings. 3) Plan workshops at larger science meetings such as AGU. Advertise workshops to working group members and assemble workshop content obtained from participants. 4) Attend telecons with CAWSES-II directors on a monthly basis. 5) Solicit working groups for current science results and keep websites and wikis up-to-date. 6) Be involved with both behind the scenes organizational efforts as well as acting as a public interface between CAWSES-II and scientists. 7) Become engaged in the science.
